What a babe we have here! This handsome beef-cake is Harvey! Harvey looks to be a Pit Bull Terrier/Labrador mix and was born around 1/17/2016. Harvey is a friendly goofball that is great with all dogs, adults, children and even cats. Harvey is so eager to please and he is already house trained, crate trained and leash trained. He is good in the car and would love to go for a cruise down to the beach...with his good looks he will certainly draw a lot of attention! Harvey would love a fenced-in yard to run and play in with his new family. If there is no fence, Harvey will need lots of walks and trips to a dog park for some off-leash fun. Harvey is a lover! He loves to be next to people and give and receive affection. He loves belly rubs and he will lay there with his belly up until he gets one.  

 

Harvey's adopter will need to be committed to going above and beyond for him, taking him to basic obedience training, keeping him well-exercised, providing him with lots of structure and stimulation, and keeping him well socialized with new people and new dogs.  These activities are essential for EVERY puppy to become a well balanced and centered canine citizen.  For Harvey, these things are even more important so that he can continue to be an amazing ambassador for his breed.  Pit bulls and pit bull mixes have a bad reputation because of what humans have done to the breed - Harvey and dogs like him can be fabulous family pets and companions just like labradors when their needs and individual personalities are respected and honored.

 

Harvey's enthusiasm for life is infectious and it's hard not to be happy around him, but his beginning was anything but carefree. In fact, Harvey is lucky to be alive at all.  Harvey's past owner in MS took him to a vet one the evening - it seems the owner drove over Harvey in the morning on his way to work, and when he returned home at 4 p.m., Harvey was still alive so he took him in to be fixed.  The owner wanted Harvey back after he was fixed, but the vet refused and he understood why.  Harvey had a broken leg, but fortunately with lots of TLC and medical care, his leg has healed and seems to give Harvey no issues.  Harvey has been in foster care for several months now, and is living life to the fullest.  Harvey deserves a safe, happy and loving home and in return Harvey will bring lots of fun, love and loyalty.
