Who wouldn't want this little one to be part of their family! Meet Oden, one of the six siblings (4 males and 2 females) from the "Patriot" litter. They are about 7 months old and very friendly and very active. Oden is a solid light chocolate with the most stunning, golden eyes - everyone remarks on how handsome he is! We recommend a home with an active person or family, as these pups have a lot of energy. They love running together in the fenced-in yard like a herd of deer. They keep themselves entertained by collecting all sorts of things in the yard, like sticks and tree limbs and bring them on the patio. They would likely make a great agility dog if properly trained. These siblings were from a very rural area and lived somewhat of a sheltered life. They love attention, but will need time and patience to warm up. They need to be exposed to different situations and people, and once they build their confidence they will be wonderful family members. They have always lived with other dogs, and they would do best if they went to a home with a well-balanced dog - it is not required but the transition would be easier. They will need to be house trained and leash trained along with obedience training. (The adopter must commit to at least one group training class.) They are all doing well with crate training. A fenced-in yard would be best for a dog with their amount of energy, if not they will need a lot of walks and other ways of getting off-leash play and exercise. So far they all get car sick, which many young pups do. They may outgrow this, but if not consult with your vet for help. They have not been around children, but being as sweet as they are, we think they would be fine. If you would like Oden to join your family, please fill out an application. He is going to melt your heart!
Medical Note: Oden was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. Oden has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
