This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Whiskers, formerly known as "Miss Piggy," made her way to an Arkansas shelter after she was almost shot after being left on a country road. Happily, Whiskers is now a proud member of the SOS family and is not looking back! She is an extremely sweet and gentle 53 lb shepherd mix. Shh...Whiskers still thinks she is a lap dog! She is crate trained and is working on her leash training. She loves to swim and is affectionate, intelligent, gentle and goofy. Whiskers is a moderately active dog who needs lots of exercise...sound like someone you know? She loves to play with sticks, clumps of grass, whatever. She is working very hard on her sit, heel, and stay commands and responds well to a firm voice command. She does sometimes jump on furniture - and guests (she's working on that) - and she needs to brush up on her house manners. Like all pups, Whiskers could benefit from obedience training, which is also a great way to bond and get to know your newest family member. She is fine with large dogs and just looks at small dogs like they come from another planet. Whiskers is a total sweetheart and is looking for her furever family...are you looking for her, too?? We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence.
