This handsome lad is Jasper Stocking!
Jasper is one of six in the Stocking litter. They appear to be a Labrador Retriever mix about 4 months old. He and his littermates were dumped in the play yard at Animal Control in the middle of the night. Jasper is mostly black with tan markings and a white patch on his chest - he's beautiful!

Being new to rescue we are still getting to know these puppies, but being puppies they will need to be house trained, crate trained and learn to walk on a leash. Jasper has only been crated in the car for trips to the vet. We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes, not only because you get to learn commands together and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, but because it helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and his human family. And it’s lots of fun! A well-mannered, obedient dog will be welcomed most anywhere you take him. Though a fenced yard is an ideal place for your puppy to romp and play safely, if that’s not an option then lots of daily leash walks and opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park is the next best thing. A tired dog is a good dog! Dogs of all ages also benefit from mental stimulation – think puzzle toys and games. Puppies are a lot of work and require a strong commitment to teaching them obedience, socializing them with other dogs and people, playing with them and loving them to pieces. It takes a lot of time, energy and patience to bring up a puppy, but it’s totally worth it!

Jasper is fine with his siblings, though he hasn't been with other dogs and we don't know about kitty cats. He hasn't been around children yet, but he's very friendly and we think he would love them. He's affectionate and outgoing, even-tempered and somewhat gentle in a puppy sort of way, and a bit goofy at times. He shows a friendly interest in new places and new dogs - he's such a happy puppy! Are you ready to add some happy to your home? Fill out an application for Jasper Stocking today and soon sweet puppy kisses and warm furry snuggles could be yours!

Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
