This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. What do you call a cute girl like this one here? Fancy Pants, of course!
It appears that Fancy Pants is a Coonhound mix that was born sometime in June of 2016. She was being given away free in a Walmart parking lot. A man took her home for his parents and they absolutely loved her, but as she grew she became too big and too much for the elderly couple to handle. Coonhounds are wonderful dogs, but they are not for every family or home. As they mature they are good-natured, loving and gentle, but they also have a loud howl and a lot of energy, and Fancy is no exception to this. With this in mind, it would be best if she goes to a home with someone who is familiar with the breed. It would also be best if she had a fenced-in yard to burn off some of her energy and to be entertained by all the smells she can find and follow on the ground. Fancy is somewhat leash trained and is house trained. She was crate trained, but she hasn't been crated much in her present foster home. She was nervous at first with the other foster dog, but now she loves to play and wrestle with him. She was good with her foster's grandkids and liked their cats, but she also liked to chase the cats, which most kitties do not like. We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes, not only because you get to learn commands together and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socializing for the dog, but because it helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and her family. And it's a lot of fun too! So far it seems Fancy prefers to be inside and is definitely not exactly a speed demon in the yard. She's probably growing into her lanky body as she seems a bit goofy and uncoordinated. Her foster dad says she's an easy foster - easy going and mellow, very sweet and could most likely fit into any family. She loves belly rubs and any human interaction and attention. She even allowed herself to be bathed, but was not a big fan. She howled at a squirrel perched on the bird feeder outside the window and her foster's kids couldn't stop laughing - they absolutely loved it!
