Meet Victoria "Tori," a stunning Blue Heeler/Hound mix, about a year old. She's very smart and obedient – she comes to a whistle or when she's called immediately – and at full steam, stopping just short of you so she doesn't jump on you. She sits on command. Tori is a great dog, and truly enjoys being outside more than inside; she likely was not kept inside in her previous home. She does appear to be house trained and does fine on a leash. She's very attentive and likes very much to be petted and shown affection. She can be unsure and anxious in new situations, but can easily be won over by treats and a little time and patience. She also LOVES to run free and in safe areas, her foster mom lets her – her ideal home would have some land to run on or a very active family who likes to hike, walk or run. Though Tori doesn’t necessarily require a fenced yard, she will need lots of daily walks and opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park which is the next best thing. A tired dog is a good dog! We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and her human family. It’s lots of fun, too! A well-mannered, obedient dog will be welcomed most anywhere you take her. Dogs of all ages also benefit from mental stimulation – think puzzle toys and games. Tori gets along very well with her foster mom's dogs and can be independent. She's very tolerant of puppies climbing all over her, even if they aren't hers. Though she doesn't necessarily have a prey drive, she did feel the need to kill some chickens and bring them to her puppies. It would seem that maybe this wasn't her first litter and she had needed to hunt for the other puppies she had had.
We really can't say enough great things about sweet Tori. As with most dogs, Tori will likely require an adjustment period and some basic training, but she has a beautiful, natural temperament. If she sounds like just the perfect friend for you, fill out an application today! Tori is waiting just for you!
