Hope springs eternal...
Meet Abigail Hope, one of the six girls in the Hope litter of eight. She appears to be a Shepherd mix. Like her siblings she's mostly tan with black trim. She has a white patch on her chest that runs up the left side of her muzzle and continues up between her eyes. These puppies have such a sad beginning, but their future holds such bright promise! Their mom, Hope, was rescued by a supporter of one of our southern partners when she was about to have puppies. She had pneumonia and mastitis and the puppies needed to be taken from her when they were three weeks old. Sadly Hope didn't make it. She was just too weak to rally. Her eight puppies are now about 3 months old and oh-so-ready to take on the world!
Being puppies they have much to learn! They are all crate trained, and working diligently on their house training and learning to walk on a leash. We strongly recommend that all our dogs - and especially puppies - attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it also helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and her human family. It’s lots of fun, too! A well-mannered, obedient dog will be welcomed most anywhere you take her. Though a fenced yard is an ideal place for your puppy to romp and play safely, if that’s not an option then lots of daily leash walks and opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park is the next best thing. A tired dog is a good dog! Dogs of all ages also benefit from mental stimulation – think puzzle toys and games. Puppies are a lot of work and require a strong commitment to teaching them obedience, socializing them with other dogs and people, playing with them and loving them to pieces. It takes a lot of time, energy and patience to bring up a puppy - and it’s totally worth it! The Hope puppies are very smart, sweet dogs who love other dogs and people. They're good with kids and with dog-savvy cats. They're playful and affectionate, eager to please, even-tempered and gentle. They have a friendly shyness about them that just melts your heart.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
