And my theory of relativity is relatively brief: I'm looking for a new forever home 'cause my former adoptive owner got really, really sick and could no longer care for me. I'm sad about that, but super excited about meeting my new forever person - or persons! So here's a little bit about me: We think I might be a Papillon/Chihuahua mix almost 10 months old. I'm good with other dogs (I admit I can be a bit of a bully with insecure dogs) and okay with kitty cats. I haven't been introduced to any little people yet, but I'm friendly to all the big people I meet. I do better meeting new people and new dogs when I'm off-leash - I'm somewhat reactive when I'm leashed. I'm working diligently on my house training (almost there) and crate training, and already I can walk on a leash. I'm affectionate, even-tempered, smart, eager to please and sometimes a goof. I like to play with toys and I'm good in the car, but I prefer short rides - long car rides are just not my thing. I do have a few questionable habits we can work on together - baking, chewing and I admit it, I can be a bit of a garbage hound. I also have some significant separation anxiety - I just don't really like being left alone for long periods of time. So I'm looking for a home where my people would be home a good part of the day, more often than not. When you leave the house, even if I'm crated, I can get to wailing, screeching and shaking (and if I'm not crated I can be a bit, ummm...on the destructive side). SOS strongly recommends that all dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it also helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and his human family. It’s lots of fun, too! A well-mannered, obedient dog will be welcomed most anywhere you take him. I don't necessarily need a fenced yard, but I'll definitely need daily walks for exercise and entertainment. Opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park would be great, too. A tired dog is a good dog, they say! Dogs of all ages also benefit from mental stimulation – think puzzle toys and games.
