Sing a song of puppies!
Meet Cantata! In musical terms a cantata is a vocal composition accompanied by instruments and generally containing more than one song. This Cantata is one of the four girls in the Musical Solis litter of six songs...er...puppies. The parents appear to be full-blooded: Mom is a Treeing Walker Coonhound and Daddy is a Blue Heeler - they all look like Mom! These puppies are about 3 months old and gorgeous!!! Being puppies they have so much to learn! They'll need house training, crate training and will need to learn to walk on a leash. We strongly recommend that all our dogs - and especially puppies - attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it also helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and her human family. It’s lots of fun, too! A well-mannered, obedient dog will be welcomed most anywhere you take her. Though a fenced yard is an ideal place for your puppy to romp and play safely, if that’s not an option then lots of daily leash walks and opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park is the next best thing. A tired dog is a good dog! Dogs of all ages also benefit from mental stimulation – think puzzle toys and games. Puppies are a lot of work and require a strong commitment to teaching them obedience, socializing them with other dogs and people, playing with them and loving them to pieces. It takes a lot of time, energy and patience to bring up a puppy - and it’s totally worth it!

Cantata is almost all white with a couple of small black patches on her rump. The sides of her face are your typical black and tan hound look, and she has white around her muzzle which goes up wide between her eyes and puddles on the top of her head. The photo with the little heart down in the right hand corner is from when she was 8 weeks old - look how much she's changed in just four weeks! If you're ready to take on this sweet little song, fill out an application today! She'll quickly puppy-kiss her way into your heart!

Medical Note: A littermate of this dog tested positive and was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. This dog has also been preventatively treated and currently shows no symptoms of demodectic mange. Please note that demodex can have a hereditary component and/or flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a personal or family history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741 . Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
