Zoey means "life" in Greek, and this beautiful girl is full of life!
She appears to be a Chocolate Labrador Retriever about 3 years old, who has found herself in need of a new forever home because her former owner's health is deteriorating. She was adopted from a Texas shelter in late 2014 and has been well cared for (shots, flea and tick preventative, heartworm preventative) since she was adopted. Zoey is house trained and is working on crate training and walking on a leash. She does know "sit" and would love to be able to learn more stuff with her people. We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it also helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and her human family. It’s lots of fun, too! A well-mannered, obedient dog will be welcomed most anywhere you take him/her. Though Zoey doesn’t necessarily require a fenced yard, she will need lots of daily walks and opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park which is the next best thing. A tired dog is a good dog! Dogs of all ages also benefit from mental stimulation – think puzzle toys and games. She's good with other dogs and with kids, she hasn't been introduced to any kitty cats as of yet. She will need help learning what's appropriate to chew on and what isn't, that jumping on guests is bad manners, and that counter-surfing is not an acceptable sport.
Zoey's a sweet, affectionate, sometimes goofy girl who's looking for someone to share her life with. Could you be that someone? Fill out an application today and let Zoey enrich your life with hers!

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
