This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.

Whoever said blondes have more fun was obviously talking about Sadie!
This big boned beautiful blonde girl is happy, friendly and loves people and other dogs. She appears to be a Lab mix between 5-7 years old. She has all the traits and energy of a Lab - outgoing, eager to please, playful, goofy, laid back and loving. She likes to play with toys, loves going for walks, and is happy to go on that next adventure with anyone. If you are looking for a guard, Sadie is NOT your girl!

Sadie would love regular walks as well as play time in daycare or at the dog park. She would love to have a canine buddy in her new home, but would also love to be the apple of your eye!    We have not observed Sadie living with young children, but we have observed her around children at events and she is friendly and calm around them.  Similarly, we have seen Sadie around several cats and she showed no interest in them.  Just as with any new dog,  Sadie's family will need to be committed to continue all her obedience training needs, as well as reinforce her house-, leash- and crate-training.  From everything we have seen, we believe Sadie will make a fabulous family companion and do well in most situations.

If you're looking for a great gal who will bring years of love and happiness with her, then fill out an application...and let the fun begin!

Sadie's Backstory: Sadie was picked up as a stray by animal control in Mississippi and was taken to a kill facility, then placed on the euthanasia list due to lack of space. Luckily, she was rescued and is now eager to find her furever home.

Medical Note: Based upon clinical exam, Sadie has moderate hip dysplasia. This condition does not seem to slow her down one bit, and no surgery is recommended at this time.  Rigorous ac tivities like agility and frisbee are activities that would not be appropriate for her due to this condition, but long walks and even runs are still appropriate for her (and she enjoys them!) She does not seem to be in pain, but she has been started on a trial of Meloxicam, a very inexpensive ($4/month) and safe anti-inflammatory. If this medication appears to help her comfort level, it could be continued indefinitely with little concern. Sadie is on, and should be kept on, a glucosamine supplement for joint health.

Medical Note: Sadie has excess wear on some of her teeth; this is possibly from chewing on rocks (a common pastime of labs). Several teeth that were thought to be a source of discomfort were recently removed and she was given a full dental cleaning.

Medical Note: This dog has been treated for heartworm disease with melarsomine injections.  Treatment is completed and the dog has tested negative for microfilaria; she is cleared to resume normal activity and able to be adopted. Her antigen retest completed in December confirmed that her treatment was successful. Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment. A good resource for more information on heartworm disease is: https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics . Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

Adoption Fee: $425
To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:  www.sosarl.org/aa/

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
