Happy and playful are just two of the things we can say about Zippy!
He is also a cuddle monster and LOVES to be in your lap. He's also quite handsome with his delicious chocolate colored coat with a bit of white icing here and there!
Zippy appears to be a Dachshund/Terrier mix about 11 months old. He LOVES playing with other dogs and has made many friends in daycare at Bow chika Wow Town. He has played well with respectful children that have come to visit. He's doing well with housetraining, but will need a refresher course once in his new home. Zippy is a sweet little guy, but he does have some funny neuroses: kitty cats give him the heebie-jeebies, cars driving by can be very startling to him, the leash is a very strange invention, and thresholds/doorways are very uncertain situations. Zippy is eager to please and quick to rebound, though, so we are confident that his confidence in these situations will grow over time with the right guidance (slow exposure, patience, and TREATS!). He has likely not experienced very much, so new things may just seem a little scary right now. With proper exposure and positive reinforcement, Zippy could easily be a take-everywhere-with-you little guy. He is very smart, and can't wait to attend obedience classes with his forever people so he can learn cool stuff, socialize with new dogs and people, and get in some quality bonding time with his new humans. These classes will also help build his confidence in life in general. A fenced yard is the ideal safe place for your pup to romp and play, and Zippy can run zoomies with the best of them, but if that's not an option then daily leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a dog park should fit the bill. Zippy would LOVE to have another playful canine buddy in his home, but if not, regular playdates with other social dogs would help him get his energy out and also fulfill his life. Dogs of all ages benefit from mental exercise, too - think puzzle toys, busy feeders and games.
When play time is done, Zippy's happy to just hang out and chill. Do you need a little added zip to your life? Fill out an application for this cutie pie today! His people will get back to you ASAP!
Zippy's Back Story: Sadly, Zippy's MS human passed away, so he's looking for a new forever home to snuggle into!

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
