Meet Wally!
Wally is an adorable little guy that is looking for his forever home! Because of his short legs and long body, he appears to be a Dachshund/Hound mix. He has black fur with the cutest tan eyebrows, and tan on his chest and legs. So far, Wally has loved everyone that he has encountered, and just wants to play with everyone! He is friendly and outgoing with adults, but has not been around children yet. He also has been great with all dogs he has met, wanting to play, and responding to corrections from the ones that may not want to. He has not been around cats yet. Wally is very playful, and is going to require daily exercise to tire him out, he is a puppy after all! He loves to play with everyone he meets, and he likes playing with toys too, especially squeaky ones!
Though a fenced yard is an ideal place for a puppy to romp and play safely, if that's not an option then lots of daily leash walks and opportunities for off leash play in a dog park is the next best thing. A tired dog is a good dog! Dogs of all ages benefit from mental stimulation - think puzzle toys and games! Right now Wally is working on house-training with his foster mom, but he is going to still need some work on that when he gets adopted. He does not like going in the crate, or being left alone. He will also need to work on leash-training and basic obedience. Being just a puppy, and a pretentious one at that, Wally has lots to learn! We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend basic obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it's lots of fun, too! It also provides opportunities for confidence building and socialization with other dogs. It will also help to strengthen the ever important bond between the dog and their new family. A well-mannered, obedient dog will be welcomed almost anywhere you take them! He loves being with his people, sitting in their laps, and giving lots of puppy kisses!
Wally is a very adorable and sweet little guy, fully of energy and mischief. He quickly worms his way into everyone's hearts. He will need a strong leader to help him learn boundaries and rules, so that he becomes a well-mannered adult who will be the life of the party and welcome everywhere. If you are ready for some puppy kisses and antics from Wally, put in an application today!
Wally's Back Story: Wally came into rescue because he was being given away in a Walmart parking lot - hence the name "Wally."

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
