Have we got a sweet treat for you! Meet the Cookie kids!
These three little sugarplums appear to be a Border Collie/Springer Spaniel mix about 3 months old. They will each need to learn the things that puppies need to learn: where to potty, how to walk on a leash, and crate time is a great time! (Potty training and crate training are currently in progress.) Attending obedience classes with your pup helps them gain confidence, do some socializing with new dogs and people, and lets the two of you get in some quality bonding time. Dogs of all ages benefit from mental stimulation, too - think puzzle toys and games. Being the breed mix that these pups are, classes, exercise and games will need to be an important part of their lives. A fenced yard is the safe, ideal place for your puppy to romp and play, but if not an option then plenty of daily leash walks with opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park are the next best thing.
Oreo Cookie is the one who looks most like mom. He has a black mask on his face, with black ears, and it kinda looks like he has a black "jacket" on. He is quite the handsome dude! He's currently the biggest and the loudest of the three. He's very active like his sister Ginger and can be a bit overbearing when playing with other dogs. He does fine with his foster's children (ages 9 years and 14 years), but kitty cats are another story - he can be hyper, overbearing, barky and become fixated on them, so maybe a kitty-less home would be better for him. He can be timid in new places though, and is anxious in the car. He LOVES chew and squeaky toys, laptime, cuddling, playing fetch and running; and playing bitey-mouth, tug-of-war, and rough wrestling with the other dogs - he's a bit of a ruffian and will also mount the other puppies. Besides the usual "puppy crimes" of chewing, jumping and barking, Oreo can be destructive when left alone. All three puppies are food aggressive when fed in a group and so are currently being fed separately in crates.
Oreo would love to go home with an active forever family or individual who is willing to commit to bringing him from puppyhood to well-mannered canine adulthood. He knows it's a big job, especially with a little "hooligan" like him, but he's totally worth the effort! Fill out an application today for Oreo Cookie and prepare yourself for some sweet puppy lovings!
Cookie Litter Backstory: Their mom, Bella Cookie, was surrendered to a shelter and was pregnant. She gave birth to her puppies and three days later was scooped up by our rescue partner. Bella will also be available for adoption through SOS after her heartworm treatment is completed sometime in April.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
