Laid back in that hound sorta way but always ready to play with fellow canines, that's Dash!
Dash appears to be a small version of a Coonhound mix somewhere around a year old and is most likely close to full grown at 35lbs. He is playful, floppy, outgoing and affectionate, great with other dogs and children of all ages, and kitty cats, too!
As an added bonus, Dash is leash and house trained...and he loves swimming!
Dash has some anxiety, so whoever adopts him needs to have patience and be prepared to work with him some on his social experiences and skills so that he can build his confidence and become a happy dog. He would do best in a home with another, well-balanced canine companion.
His foster home is making good progress with him on meeting new people and building his confidence, but he will need some continued work on that as he can
be a little unsure of new people and having a canine buddy around does wonders for him. Patience and treats are key, and to help him socialize and grow on his own timeline, we are recommending a calm household for him with not a lot of new people coming and going so that new experiences can be well managed as positive experiences. We think he would do fine in a household with a respectful child who is not too hyper, and would do best in a household with another canine buddy or two. He would also benefit greatly from group training classes, and regular short excursions to new places paired with lots of treats. A fenced yard is the ideal safe place for this handsome hound to run and play, but if it's not an option then daily leash walks with opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park is the next best thing. And to exercise and keep that puppy mind busy, think puzzle toys and games.
Dash truly lives up to his name! From crazy zoomies to snuggling, he's the perfect package! He knows lots of commands: sit, lay down, leave it, off, and quiet (he can be a barker when he's excited). He piddles a little when he is excited, but this should lessen as he builds confidence. He is eager to please and a total lovebug - he would thrive with a family who enjoys long walks or hikes, as well as snuggling. He would love to zoom and snuggle his way right into your heart!

Dash's Back Story: Dash is part of the Hillbilly litter, a group of pups who were dropped off at a Mississippi farm out in the country and the farmers brought them to our rescue partner. Dash was adopted into a NE home last summer, but is looking for a new home that can help build his confidence further.
