Like Wrigley's Doublemint gum, you have the opportunity to double your pleasure and double your fun with bonded pair Holly and Willow. These 2 girls are a special treat as they're curious, energetic, obedient and affectionate - qualities we love in dogs. They have a strong and close bond with each other, but that doesn't limit their love for other family members, canine and human.
Holly is the more outgoing of the two. She's more relaxed in new situations. Willow is a bit more shy and hesitant at first, especially with males. However, once they "know" you, they are eager to be by your side and cuddle. They are extremely dog social, attend doggie daycare and grooming at the local vet every other week. And they love their neighborhood walks, getting really excited whenever their leashes and harnesses come out. They've been in foster for 1.5 years with 2 shelties and we think they'd be fine with new canine family members. They are great with children and guests, although Willow might need additional time and space to gradually warm up.
Holly has an amputated back left leg, but it doesn't hold her back one bit. Both Holly and Willow would make excellent agility dogs. Holly can do nearly everything she did before she lost the use of one leg and Willow is extremely agile and can jump to the top of a 6-ft. fence from a standing position.
They're recently working with a trainer in "The Good Dog Way" method and are doing very well since they both naturally have strong eye contact with their humans and are treat and affection motivated. They already have some skills under their belt, like "sit" and "drop it" and "wait." They are crate trained and will go into their crates when directed. We hope that whoever adopts them will be willing to continue obedience classes so Holly and Willow will continue to grow to be confident and well-mannered, and well loved family members.
A fenced yard is ideal, preferably at least 6 feet tall, since Willow can leap over it in less than a single bound. But these girls love walks so someone who will love to take them out to explore the neighborhood and the outdoors will be fantastic.
The backstory is that they were brought to Fort Bend County animal shelter right before Christmas 2016. A vet said they were likely sisters and approximately a year old. Holly needed to be placed in medical foster because her back leg had been broken and she needed an amputation. Due to the bond these girls shared, it was hard for our Southern partner to separate them. And we hope we don't have to separate them either. They've experienced so much together, we hope that we can adopt them out together. They've been well cared for and well loved at their current fosters in the South, but due to personal circumstances, they will need to find a new home soon.
We hope that Holly and Willow have touched your heart as they have ours and that you'd consider filling out an application for their adoption.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
