PUPPIES!!! Meet the Range kids!
We think this sweet litter of 6 pups might be a Shepherd mix, born about the end of January of this year to a stray mom in Mississippi. Our southern rescue partner was contacted and a friend of hers agreed to foster mom and babies. The pups were in foster and with their mom until April 23rd and are now in a kennel environment.
Jack loves people and does well with his siblings. He's happy and playful, and somewhat more laid back like his sister Jewel. He's mostly house trained and was exposed to older dogs and cats in his original foster home, however his exposure to other situations and experiences is limited. Though he has not resided with children, he and his siblings are very friendly and loving. Crate training and walking on a leash are in progress - he does tend to pull, but is doing better than expected for his age. The entire litter is treat motivated which will make obedience classes go more smoothly, so while Jack is learning cool stuff with you, he can build more confidence and further his bond with his new human(s). A fenced yard is the ideal safe place for your new puppy to run and play, but if that's not an option then plenty of daily leash walks and opportunities to play off-leash at a dog park will do just fine. And to exercise that puppy mind, think puzzle toys and games. He has ridden crated in the car and was calm. Bringing up a puppy to adulthood is a challenging commitment, but it's so worth it!

Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange:

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
