Who doesn't love the Looney Tunes characters?
Well, we have seven of them here for you in the Looney Tunes litter! They appear to be Labrador Retriever/Border Collie mixes about 9 months old. They have beautiful soft flowing coats of medium/long length. The litter was dropped off at the city hall in a neighboring town of our Arkansas rescue partner. Daffy is a dashing boy and he is sweet, goofy and loving! He loves to play with balls and soft toys, chew on a meaty bone, go for walks, meet new people, and settle in a lap after all that activity is done. He's is great with all other dogs that he has met, has been playful with children he's encountered, and is interested in but not aggressive towards kitty cats that he's met. He rides quietly in the car, but it still getting used to that experience.

Daffy is uber sweet and gentle with people, and also very eager to please and food motivated - a good combination to do well in obedience classes! House training is going well but he is also let out regularly. He's a quiet boy - he rarely barks when out and about and around the house but he will fuss for a little bit when first crated until he settles. He keeps his crate clean. He is working on mastering "sit." He is excited to see new people, and will jump up on them but he is not hyper or aggressive about this, just excited; this can and should be worked on as he still has quite a bit of growing to do, but he would likely not be a great fit for a household with small children for this reason only.

These puppies came in to our Arkansas partner shelter this year as young puppies and since then have not known much life outside of the shelter. Our shelter partner has fabulous staff who have taken them on walks and included them in playgroups, but much of the human environment will likely be very new to them. Daffy is still learning about the human environment, and reacts cautiously to new situations and experiences, but with time, patience and positive associations, we are confident that he will adapt well, build confidence and become a fabulous companion. His new family should be prepared to give him regular exercise, a structured routine, work with him on basic commands and manners, take him to group training classes, help socialize him to new situations and experiences, and couple all of these things with lots of praise and treats.

Raising a puppy to adulthood can be challenging and it's a commitment of time, energy, patience and love. If Daffy's sweet face is tugging at your heartstrings, fill out an application today and let us know!

Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange:  http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741 . Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
