Tiny Terriers tumble and tussle!
And when there are six of them, that can be quite a puppy pile! Meet Pixie, Lacey Jane, Henry, Teddy, Tucker and Sprocket! These little nuggets appear to be a Chihuahua/Terrier mix about 3 months old. They were surrendered to our Arkansas rescue partner by the people who own the parents because they just couldn't afford to keep the puppies. Affectionate, friendly and playful, these kids will need to learn all those "big dog" things like where to potty, crates are great (so far so good on this) and how much fun going for a leash walk is! They are eager to please and somewhat food motivated which will make obedience classes that much more fun. While you're learning lots of cool stuff you'll also get to strengthen the canine/human bond and your pup will get in some socialization with new dogs and people, and gain more confidence. A fenced yard is the ideal safe place for your new best friend to romp and play, but if that's not an option then daily leash walks with opportunities to play at a dog park or doggie daycare will do just fine. To keep that puppy mind busy, think puzzle toys and games. They get along great with other dogs, find kitties interesting and have been playful with children they've met. They love meeting new people and playing, playing, playing - but they also love curling up in a lap for some cuddles and chill time. They have been calm while riding crated in the car.

Lacey Jane is such a pretty little thing! She's mostly all white with black patches on her face and body, and cute black ears. Bringing up a puppy can be a challenge and is a big commitment of time, patience and energy - no matter how big or tiny the dog. If you'd like to add a Tiny Terrier to your family, fill out an application today for Lacey Jane! She's sure to tumble and tussle her way into your heart in a heartbeat!

Medical Note: A littermate of this dog tested positive and was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. This dog has also been preventatively treated and currently shows no symptoms of demodectic mange. Please note that demodex can have a hereditary component and/or flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a personal or family history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741 . Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
