Looking for a sidekick? Someone to pal around with?
Look no further! Meet the Sissy litter! These friendly, playful pups appear to be a Dachshund/Basset Hound mix about 4 months old. Their previous owner surrendered them to our Arkansas rescue partner because they couldn't afford to keep them, so they are now SOS puppies looking to move to the northeast to find a forever home! They are currently in a shelter environment so though crate training is in progress, they have not had any house training or leash training yet. They all get along well with other dogs, are playful and interested with kitties, and friendly and playful with children they've met. They love to play chase and wrestle, and are more than willing to curl up in a lap after playing for some chill time. They are eager to please and somewhat food motivated which will make training them easier. You and your new pup will have lots of fun attending obedience classes where you can strengthen your bond and learn lots of cool stuff together. Though a fenced yard is the ideal safe place for your puppy to run and play, if that's not an option then daily leash walks along with opportunities to play off-leash at a dog park will work just fine. And to exercise that puppy mind, think puzzle toys and games.
Shelby Sissy is so pretty with her shiny black coat, white chest and paws, and that bit of white around her nose! She finds new places and people quite interesting and rides calmly in the car while crated. She's a typical puppy with typical puppy behavior. Puppies can be a challenge to bring up, requiring lots of patience, energy and time. In the end though, you have a well-mannered, sweet canine companion who can go most anywhere with you. Shelby would love to be your sidekick! Fill out an application today and let her people know she's to be your new best friend!
Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange:

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
