Aaron Hamilton is happy to entertain himself.
He is one of the four boys in this litter of seven, who are all currently in that typical puppy "chewing phase." They appear to be an Australian Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix born around the beginning of May. They are all diligently working on their "big dog" stuff: where to potty, crates are great, and walking on a leash means adventure time! Based on breed looks, these pups will require a home that is prepared to give them 2-3 hours of exercise a day, mental stimulation and structure. Their new human(s) must commit to basic obedience training at the very least. Aussies belong to the working dog group and are often used for herding, so they need to be kept busy. Puzzle toys, games, advanced training like agility and nosework are all things they may excel at. Though a fenced yard is the ideal safe place for your puppy to run and play, if that's not an option then plenty of daily leash walks with opportunities to play off-leash at a dog park will keep them happy and tired. They say a tired dog is a good dog! When in a new place they all tend to hide until they feel comfortable, but usually relax pretty quickly. They're a bit shy with new people, but are friendly little tykes nevertheless. They are good with the other dogs at the shelter, fine with children, but kitties are an unknown.
Aaron seems to be the loner in the litter. He also sometimes growls over his food, so will need work on this behavior. Your Adoption Counselor will be happy to talk with you about it. The Hamilton litter was being given away on Facebook and our Tennessee rescue partner scooped them up. They are beautiful, happy, playful puppies - each one of them a gem who is going to steal someone's heart. Has Aaron's sweet face stolen yours? **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
