This handsome dude is Zuke!
And he's as sweet, happy, gentle and even-tempered as he is handsome! We're thinking he's a German Shepherd Dog mix about a year and a half old. His previous owner took care of him as much as he could, but before being rescued Zuke spent all his life chained outside. He has melded beautifully into his foster family's pack and loves it! He's an all-around nice dog! He's working on the basic skills and doing really well! He's easy on the leash and goes into his crate without complaint, and will stay there quietly until let out. He's doing really well with house training. He still has moderate to high puppy energy, but daily leash walks with opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park will help him burn it off. He'd love a fenced yard, but it's not a requirement. He's very gentle around children, even little ones with cupcakes! He loves to play with other dogs and is a good companion to older folks, too. He is not an alpha-dog and more like a therapy-dog-friend. In his current foster's home they have a special needs dog, Dodge, who was hit by a car before being rescued and lost a leg. Zuke is gentle with him and urges him to play and forget he doesn't have four legs. He seems to have a mild prey drive - he'll chase a cat that runs, but he has not hurt any of his foster's kitties. Zuke listens well and wants to please, so attending obedience classes with his new human(s) will be lots of fun! You'll have a chance to learn lots of cool stuff together, work on his social skills and build more confidence. He may also enjoy advanced training like nosework or agility. Other ways of exercising that canine mind are puzzle toys and games. Zuke can be a bit tentative with men, but his foster is working on him with this. He warms up once he's comfortable with them.
Zuke might be a bit big to be a lap dog, but don't tell him! And while he may not fit in your lap, we have no doubt he'll fit right into your heart! Fill out an application today for this handsome, gentle pup! His people will be in touch!

Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence.
