Paige Conroe LOVES to play!
This beautiful girl loves to play with toys, other dogs, people - she loves swimming, fetch, chase and tug-of-war! She's just as happy taking time out for a bit of cuddling, though, and she's awfully sweet and calm for a pup her age! We're thinking she's a Labrador Retriever mix born sometime in May 2018. Because she's currently living in a shelter environment, her new human(s) will need to be prepared to take things slow with her as she transitions to life in a home. Group training classes will be important for her as they will help her build confidence and bond with her adopter. She already knows "sit" and being eager to please and treat motivated, adding to her repertoire should be a snap. She's great on leash, crate trained, and house trained (she may need a refresher course after living in a kennel). She is playful with children and tolerant of cats. She is timid in new places, but is calm overall.
Paige was adopted from a shelter in Conroe, Texas, but was a bit too much for a mother with two toddlers. They did not want her to go back to the shelter and so reached out to our rescue partner. Paige is a sweet, gentle pup who's eager to find her forever home and settle in for lots of playtime - and some cuddle time, too! If she sounds like the perfect addition to your family, fill out an application today and her people will be in touch soon!
Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodecticin-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.
