Kensi Mariah needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start?
Age: 9 Months (as of 1/19/19)
Weight: 35 lbs (as of 11/30/18) This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Kensi Mariah is an outgoing, energetic pup! She can be timid or shy with new people and in new situations though. She appears to be an Australian Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix, born around the middle of April in 2018. She was found with her mom and her brother, Deeks, on a busy highway in Arkansas. (Mom Mariah appears to be an Aussie/Border Collie mix.) Kensi hasn't been exposed to much, though she has been fully integrated into a large, rural household pack of 15+ dogs and two adults. She has rarely left the property and so hasn't experienced events, cars, visitors or children. She is shy by nature and will need a patient adopter to work with her on her socialization with the human environment and who will not force her to grow too much, too quickly. A quieter home without small or young, active children, and/or lots of people coming and going is recommended for her. She is very sweet and has shown no aggression.
Kensi gets along great with other dogs, but has not been introduced to kitty cats. She does exhibit a prey drive, so squirrels and other small animals (cats?), beware! She is house and crate trained, and working on leash walking. She's not as laid back than her brother, but lots of daily leash walks for exercise, business and fun should take keep her happy and healthy. Once she's settled in and more confident, training classes can help with socialization and building more confidence, as well as give you some quality time learning together. Puzzle toys and games are good for keeping her canine mind happy and healthy, too! With her breed mix, you may enjoy doing agility together!
