Calvin is a super sweet boy who has a passion for life and loves to play!
He also loves going on walks, meeting new people and cuddling. We're thinking he's a Jack Russell Terrier mix born around the end of August. This breed mix can be quite spunky and Calvin is no exception! He's looking for an adopter who's willing to help him get the 2-4 hours of exercise coupled with mental stimulation that he needs every day, and who's as excited about going to obedience classes and working on basic training as much as he is. He's a smart little dude and is doing great with leash walking and crate training. Since he's currently living in a kennel environment, he has not had any potty training yet. A fenced yard where he can run and burn off some of that energy would be great, but daily leash walks for exercise, business and fun will work, too. Puzzle toys and games are great for keeping an active canine mind busy. He would probably enjoy advanced training, too - maybe agility training?
Calvin isn't shy, but when approaching a volunteer for the first time will crawl up to them for attention and to be petted, so he's definitely not overbearing when greeting new people. He rides fine in the car either crated or tethered and is hoping his new human(s) like going on adventures! He's fine with other dogs and has been playful with children he's met. He finds cats interesting and can be redirected if the cat would rather not be friends.
On a cold winter day someone saw sweet Calvin thrown out of the window of a truck and stopped to scoop him up and brought him to the shelter of our Mississippi rescue partner. Fortunately he suffered no injuries and quickly showed his appreciation of love and affection with his new care givers at the shelter. He's young enough that we hope to rewrite the memory of his abandonment with new life experiences. If you'd love to help Calvin write a whole new life story, fill out an application today! His people will get right back to you!

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
