Yates is a cuddly, little girl who loves one on one attention!
She's the most calm and photogenic of the girls, and not in the least bit shy! She is one of five girls in the Construction litter of eight, a beautiful brindle color with a white chest and white on her rear toes. She loves to play and is working very hard on learning not to jump up - and learning quickly! She loves to play with toys and other dogs, and likes cats, but will playfully chase them. She's been playful with children she's met. She rides fine in the car, crated or loose, and though she loves to play, play, play, she also likes to cuddle.
Like all puppies this crew is each going to need to work on "big dog" skills: potty training (they have not started yet), crate training (in progress), and learning to walk on leash (they're still figuring out what a leash is!). They're friendly, eager to please, and treat/toy motivated so puppy training classes will be lots of fun! While a fenced yard is the ideal safe place for your puppy to run and play, daily leash walks for exercise, business and adventure will work, too. Puppies can be super eager to get out and explore, so care should be taken around open doors and gates. And to keep that canine mind busy, think puzzle toys and games.
Yates can't wait to have a forever home of her very own where she can "build" the rest of her life with her new human(s). If you have the time, patience and energy to help her, fill out an application today! Her people will get right back to you!
The Construction Litter's Backstory: They were rescued from under a house that was being remodeled. The builder came by the shelter of our Mississippi rescue partner on a Saturday and asked if we could help, as he had no idea what was under the house - but his workers told him they had seen puppies and a momma dog coming and going. The rescuers crawled under the house and retrieved all the puppies and set a trap for mom (Serena) who was nowhere to be found. An hour later she popped up in our trap and was coming back to look for and tend to her children - all of whom were already safe. There are eight total and their coloring comes in pairs: two black, two brindle, two red with white markings on nose, and two red with no white. Mom is black with just a bit of white - and she has a beautiful smile!
