Walter is an outgoing, smart boy who's super quick to learn!
He looks to be a Border Collie mix born around the middle of December 2017. Border Collies are part of the working dog class and as such are happiest when they have a job to do. Walter already knows "sit" and is going to LOVE learning lots more cool stuff at obedience classes with his new human(s)! He's also thinking he'd like to try some advanced training - maybe agility? He does like to swim so jogging on the beach with some laps in the water are on his agenda for the summer! Puzzle toys and games will help keep his active canine mind busy and healthy. A fenced yard would be great, but daily leash walks for exercise, business and adventure should work, too. Are you into hiking? Going new places? Walter's great in the car and wants to be your errand buddy and road trip sidekick, for sure! He's great with other dogs - even small ones, but we'll test him with kitty cats if needed. He hasn't been introduced to children yet. He's an absolute total love and will cry for attention (he's quiet in his crate, though). He is working on his house training and walks well on leash.
Much like the Walter in the Walter Mitty movie, our sweet little Walter may have been on a heroic daydream when he ended up in the middle of nowhere. He was found running on the side of the road and scooped up by a passerby who reached out to our Mississippi rescue partner for help. He was covered in ticks and fleas, and was boarded at the vet's over the holidays. Absolutely everyone who met him gave raving reviews of his sweet, wonderful personality - so much so that one of them stepped up to foster him! As Jack Warner of Warner Brothers described the human actor Walter, “To the Walter Mittys of the world, he was all the heroes in one magnificent, sexy, animal package.” That’s how we think our Walter feels about himself with the confidence he exudes around people and other animals. He is courteous and charming, so much so that you can’t look past his little polka dots without seeing his awesomeness! Don’t you want a Walter Mitty super hero pup? He will save your day after you save his! Fill out an application today and his people will get right back to you!
