Wellington Beach LOVES belly rubs!
He's one of six boys in this litter of eight puppies, who appear to be a Coonhound mix born sometime toward the end of November 2018. They are typical puppies who'll need to work on their "big dog" skills: house training, crate training (in progress) and walking on leash. Hounds are of the working dog class and love to have a "job." Attending puppy training classes with your pup ensures that you and your new BFF will have the proper basic training to build on and is great for building trust and the all-important human/dog bond. A fenced yard is the ideal safe place for your hound puppy to play and explore, so that active nose doesn't lead him astray. Advanced training could include "Nose Work" which would be right up their alley! These kids get along fine with other dogs and have been playful with children they've met. They can be redirected away from kitties who don't care to interact.
Wellington LOVES to play with his friends and he enjoys toys, but he also likes relaxing and taking it easy. He's a super happy boy who craves attention and will lift his paw to ask you for more! Let's not disappoint this sweet boy! Fill out an application today for Wellington Beach and his people will get right back to you!
The Beach Kids' Story: The Beach litter was found at a house that had them listed as free Christmas puppies for gifts. When one of our Mississippi rescue partner's employees arrived to help with another dog in need they found all the Coonhound puppies with little to no fur and knew if they ended up in the wrong hands they would never have their medical needs tended to and be spayed or neutered to prevent the overpopulation problem in the south so brought them to the shelter. They were then brought to our rescue and treated for demodectic mange which included proper bathing and bravecto.
Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange:

. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.
