Gadget Surprise will be just that!
We really have no clue as to what breed mix he and his sister Penny are. Think of him as a surprise present: You won't know what breed mix he is until he's fully grown, and maybe not even then! We are thinking that, based on their current age and weight, these sweet little cherubs just might turn out to be bigger dogs. They could have some Labrador Retriever, along with some Hound and maybe even some Great Pyrenees in the mix. They were found in a field when they were about a week old - it was sleeting and cold! The good citizen who found them brought them to a local shelter, who called our Tennessee rescue partner looking for a bottle feeder. The poor little tykes had started to show signs of frostbite on their tummies and paws. They are healthy, happy and robust now, each eager and ready to find a forever home! They are both on the shy side and would love an adopter who's willing to go slow and give them time to build their confidence and help them blossom into the awesome, playful, sweet pups we know they are!
Gadget is working on crate training, walking on a leash and potty training. He's a sweet, shy boy who's nervous and cowers with other dogs, and might prefer a quiet home with adults or older children - he doesn't always appreciate being picked up and young kids will likely be too much for him. He has his moments of being brave when following his sister's lead, so a calm, confident fur-sibling may be helpful to him. He does currently get car sick, but that's pretty normal for puppies. If he doesn't outgrow this your vet can give you suggestions on what to do. Puppy training classes will be an important part of his education, providing him with the opportunity to work on his social skills, confidence building and of course, coming when he's called. Though a fenced yard is the ideal safe place for him to run and play, daily leash walks for exercise, business and adventure will work, too. Puzzle toys and games will keep his active canine mind busy and chew toys will help keep him from destroying your favorite slippers...maybe. Gadget LOVES to nap!
When Gadget was just 6-weeks old he and Penny made a special Valentine’s Day delivery (puppy gram) to the mayor of Washington County, Tennessee. The “twins” were on the local news and the highlight of his visit was when Gadget fell asleep in the Mayor's arms. Being adorable is exhausting. If you love surprises and Gadget's adorable face has stolen your heart, fill out an application today! His people will get right back to you!

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
