This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.

This playful, fun-loving girl is Jade!
She appears to be a Boxer/Hound mix, born maybe around the middle of May, 2018. She's friendly with folks she meets out and about and very eager to explore new places. She will do almost anything for a treat, but she hasn't learned many tricks yet; training should be an entertaining exercise for both involved. She is a natural at fetch, and will bring the toy right back to you. She will settle in her crate and sleep all through the night, but would also probably rather sleep in the bed with you. Ideally, lovely Jade would like to be your one and only, so she can get all your attention as your hiking, running, errands, and patio buddy. She is living with other dogs in foster and does okay with them, but would prefer not to share attention or bones with others. When she is excited (e.g., you have just come home), she will jump up and even give you some "love nips," so a home with young or little children might not be the best match. She has lived most of her life in a shelter, so she still has some life learning to do; her adopter should be prepared to be patient as she is exposed to new things; and pairing new experiences with lots of positive associations will work wonders for her (think hot dogs!). A home without many new people coming and going would be best, at least for the first few months while she goes to group training classes for manners and socialization, and builds her confidence and knowledge of the human environment.

This goofy girl is smart and outgoing, and would make a great addition to a home looking for an adventure buddy. Fill out an application today for Jade and see for yourself how sweet she is!

Medical Note: A littermate of this dog tested positive and was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. This dog has also been preventatively treated and currently shows no symptoms of demodectic mange. Please note that demodex can have a hereditary component and/or flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a personal or family history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange:  http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741 . Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

Medical Note: This dog tested positive for exposure to ehrlichia while in SOS foster care. This does not mean that this dog had ehrlichia. This dog is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and was preventatively treated with a 28- day course of doxycycline. Please see here for more information on ehrlichia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Ehrlichiosis_(canine). Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
