Meet the Kerlin Pups!
Tanner, Blue, Emma, Georgia, Layla, and Riley (all available on SOS) are playful and affectionate pups looking for a forever home. We are thinking these cute boys and girls are a Labrador Retriever and Black Mouth Cur mix. In case you aren’t familiar with Black Mouth Curs they are a hunting dog primarily found in the south. Did you know it was a Black Mouth Cur that played the role of Old Yeller in the popular movie from the 1950s? The pups are just getting started on potty training, crate training, and leash training are doing great! They play well with other dogs and love to play with toys. They don’t seem to mind cats and are playful with kids.
Tanner is very timid and unsure about new things and will require a little extra patience. He seems completely baffled by toys. He also seems to love the crate and runs to it when he’s unsure of something going on. His best bud is his foster mom's other dog.
The pups are pretty quiet but you might hear them bark to get your attention. They love going new places and meeting new people and would love to join you for a walk or a ride in the car. All the Kerlin pups are eager to please, toy and treat motivated little squirts, so puppy training classes will be lots of fun!
Tanner would love to find a forever family who has lots of time and patience to raise a puppy properly, and who has lots of extra time for loving and cuddles. If you are looking for a puppy, Tanner may be perfect for you! Fill out an application today and let him know that you'd love to have him join your family!
Kerlin Pups’ story: The litter was found behind a tire shop and was placed in a nearby shelter. They have since moved in with a loving foster family and are doing great!
Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence.
