Say Hello to Neka!

She is a smart and active young lady. We are thinking she is a Husky mix. She is a new mom who recently had five beautiful healthy puppies, all of which have found loving homes. Now it's Neka's turn! She is house trained and appears to be crate trained. She seems to do well with other dogs though she can be a little intimidated by loud or rambunctious ones. She is a pretty quiet girl who doesn’t bark at other dogs. When Neka is vocal she really doesn't bark, rather she howls. We don't yet know how she is with kids and cats. We recommend a relatively quiet household for her. She is an active girl who will probably need 2-3 hours of exercise and stimulation per day. She would do best with a strong and confident leader and someone who is looking for a walking, hiking, or jogging partner.

Neka's Story:  We don't know a lot about her other than he owner had to surrender as he was not able to care for her. It broke his heart to give her up but knew it was for the best for Neka.

Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age.
