Paisley loves to cuddle!
She is a sweet and playful girl looking for a forever home. We are thinking she is a Heeler mix.
She LOVES her people and wants to be the apple of your eye! She will follow you around the house, and sit quietly at your feet or cuddle next to you on the sofa. She is a new mom and recently weaned three happy, healthy puppies and while she was a great mom to her puppies (who have all been adopted!), we don't think she was exposed to much in the human environment, so everything is new for her. She is a little shy with new people and places but with a little time (and affection & treats!) she does warm up. She is a little unsure with new dogs, and can get overwhelmed by extremely energetic ones, but would love to have the company of another well-balanced, chill dog in her new home, but could also likely do fine as an only dog with lots of patience and socialization. She is currently living with another dog and doing well with her, though she does have her moments of insecurity with the other dog around high value resources like human attention and food. We are confident that these are not real guarding issues and can be managed over time with building her confidence and the right in-home leadership.

Paisley naturally walks calmly on the leash, but does occasionally get spooked by loud noises and sudden activity. She is learning that car rides mean trips to fun places, so she is starting to willingly jump in the car now. She has not lived with or met children, so we aren't sure how she will do with them. Our guess is that with slow introductions, short exchanges, lots of treats, and lots of time in between visits to process, she will learn to be comfortable around visiting kids; we don't think she would do well living with children or in home with lots of new people coming and going.

Paisley has shown to be a smart girl! She is crate trained and comfortable in her crate; she has shown some separation anxiety from her people, so the best place for her when she is left alone is her crate with a busy toy. She is also house and seemingly naturally leash trained. Group training classes are a must for her, as they will help build her confidence and social skills, as well as help build that very important bond between a dog and her human. She is relatively quiet in the home, has short bursts of play time and then is calm the rest of the day, and sleeps quietly through the night on a dog bed next to her foster human's bed. Her exercise demands do not seem to be high, though she would likely love hikes and other outdoors adventures. Short regular outings (with lots of treats) will be key to helping build her confidence and social skills . She plays gently with toys and also likes to chew on bones and treats.

Paisley is a sweet and gentle girl who just wants a loving forever home. Are you a patient, loving, quiet home who can make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!

Paisley’s Story: She and a littermate (Piper) were found as strays as part of a neighborhood pack roaming free. The sisters gave birth to their litters just one day apart and are very similar in personality.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence.
