The Pasta Pups are Delizioso!
They are also playful, intelligent, and very precious! We are thinking the Pasta pups – Rigatoni, Fettuccine, Penne, Ravioli, Tortellini, Linguine, and Ziti are a Black Mouth Cur mix. In case you aren’t familiar with Black Mouth Curs, they are a hunting dog primarily found in the south. Did you know it was a Black Mouth Cur that played the role of Old Yeller in the popular movie from the 1950s?

Fetuccinni is doing well with potty training and crate training, and leash training is also in progress.  She is calm and slightly apprehensive in new situations and with strangers - both human and canine - and she shies away from loud noises and erratic movements. With slow and continual socialization over the next 6-12 months (paired with lots of treats and breaks), we believe she is going to be a fabulous, well-balanced dog, but we think she would do best in a quieter household during this time. A household with low foot-traffic and no young children would likely be best to set her up to be the confident dog she is meant to be. Another dog or cat in the household would be a bonus.

Fetuccinni has met children and while cautious, she has done fine around them as long as they remained quiet and respectful. In general she is quiet and only barks when in play - and play she does! She loves toys of all kinds, as well as wrestling (gently) with her foster mom.  She is  eager to please as well as toy and treat motivated, so puppy training classes will be lots of fun!

This sweet girl would love to find a quiet forever family who has lots of time and patience to raise a puppy properly, and who has lots of extra time for loving and cuddles. If you are looking for a puppy, Fettuccine (or one of her littermates) may be perfect for you! Fill out an application today!

Pasta Pups’ story: The pups' mom, Bella, was surrendered to a loving rescue by her owners the day she had her puppies. Bella and her happy, healthy pups are doing great and can’t wait to find forever homes!

Medical Note: This dog was treated for suspected demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
