Wednesday is a sweet girl!
She is also smart and playful! We are thinking she is a Labrador Retriever mix. Her foster mom says she has the best personality, wants to be loved, loves spending time with people, and gives the best kisses! She does seem to like women more than men (sorry guys!) but she has recently only lived with women and we think in time she will warm up to men as she is so affectionate. She was named after the day of the week she was found as a stray and represents a new beginning for this loving pup. She is great with other dogs but can act a little shy when first meeting them. She seems interested in cats, but they show no interest in her! We don’t know how she is around kids and think she would be okay with children that are relatively quiet and respectful of a new dog in the house. She is a smart girl and recently completed crate training. House training and leash training are in progress and so far, so good!
She is a pretty quiet girl but you might hear her bark when she sees other dogs. We recommend Wednesday for a quiet household with low foot traffic. A potential adopter will need to go slow, work on socialization, give plenty of exercise, and provide training and structure.

A fenced yard would be ideal so she could run and play safely, but if that's not available she will need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. An obedience course is a must for Wednesday; it will help teach her good manners and commands, further socialization with other dogs and people, and will help build that very important bond between a dog and her human. She is an eager-to-please and intelligent pup, which will make training tons of fun for you and Wednesday!

Wednesday is a sweet and happy girl who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!

Wednesday’s Story: She was found as a stray wandering alone with no food, water, or shelter. She was scared and timid not wanting to leave the spot she was dropped in hopes whoever abandoned her would come back. She has since been living with a loving foster family and is making progress every day!

Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
