Baby Girl Garcia is sweet!

She is also playful, gentle, and sometimes a little goofy!  We are thinking Baby Girl is a Heeler mix. She is a happy go lucky puppy who is ready for the next adventure.

She is a little reserved when meeting new people and going new places but settles quickly. She is playful with other dogs and wants to make friends with cats. Baby Girl is playful with kids she has met, but they should be introduced slowly as we don’t know if she has lived with children. We don’t think she has lived in a household and a potential adopter will need to keep this in mind and go slow, work on socialization, give her plenty of exercise, and structure. Baby Girl is a solid dog, but she has not been exposed to much so she needs to have positive experiences in small doses to get her feet under her in the human environment.

Baby Girl is not house trained, crate trained, or leash trained, but is a smart girl and we think she will pick up these important skills quickly with a confident and patient adopter. A fenced yard would be ideal so she could run and play safely, but if that's not available she'll need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. An obedience course is a must with Baby Girl; it will help teach her good manners and commands, further socialization with other dogs and people, and will help build that very important bond between a dog and her human.

Baby Girl is a sweet and happy girl who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!

Baby Girl’s Story: She was a stray dumped in rural area along with several other dogs. It is common for many rural families to allow their dogs to run loose and the neighbors didn’t appreciate these dogs roaming so caregiver contacted a rescue organization for assistance with rehoming. She is now living with a loving foster family and doing great!

Medical Note: This dog tested positive for exposure to ehrlichia while in SOS foster care. This does not mean that this dog had ehrlichia. This dog is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and was preventatively treated with a 28-day course of doxycycline. Please see here for more information on ehrlichia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehrlichiosis_(canine).

Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741.

Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about these conditions, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
