Uncle Bud is a laid-back boy!
He also sweet, playful and very happy. He also goes by “Buddy”, which is a great name for him as he is sure to be your new best buddy! We are thinking this handsome dude is a Labrador Retriever mix about five years old.
Uncle Bud is going to be the perfect addition to someone's home! He is happy to meet and play with other dogs, kids (of all ages) and all adults - he is just one friendly, happy boy! At his foster home he is a best buddy to the family’s kids ages 3, 5, and 8 and their 2 dogs. They also have cats who Uncle Bud tends to ignore.
He rides great in the car and would love to join you on a walk or hike as he also walks great on the leash. He is crate trained but does need a little work on house training. He is a quiet guy who rarely barks.
Uncle Bud does have some soft tissue injuries possibly from being hit by a car. His injuries are healing and doesn’t appears to have any problems walking or playing.
A fenced yard would be ideal so Uncle Bud could run and play safely, but if that's not available he'll need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. An obedience course would be great for him and a lot of fun for you; it will help teach him good manners and commands, further socialization with other dogs and people, and will help build that very important bond between a dog and his human.
Uncle Bud (aka Buddy) is an sweet and happy boy who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make his dream come true? Fill out an application today and let him know that you'd love to have him join your family!
Uncle Bud’s story: He was found as a stray by a family that attempted but were unable to locate his owner so they reached out to a loving rescue organization for help in rehoming since they have 2 dogs and 3 children with a busy lifestyle and felt they would be unable to provide Uncle Bud with the time and attention he deserves and wants him to go to a good home.
Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741.
Medical Note: This dog tested positive for exposure to ehrlichia while in SOS foster care. This does not mean that this dog had ehrlichia. This dog is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and was preventatively treated with a 28-day course of doxycycline. Please see here for more information on ehrlichia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehrlichiosis_(canine).
