Sallie is sweet!
She is also playful and loves toys, especially ones that squeak! We are thinking this beautiful girl is a Terrier mix.
Sallie was the runt of a very large litter and didn’t get the attention needed from her mom and important interaction from her littermates. At two weeks of age she was removed from her mom and was bottle fed by a family friend. She has made great progress and is putting on weight, but she really didn’t have the time to socialize with pups her age. She is now living with a loving foster family with two adult dogs and is playful with them but sometimes will act rude in play. She definitely doesn’t like cats and will bark and want to chase if she sees one. As for us humans she can be affectionate and sweet, but sometimes will want to play rough and will exhibit the same rude behavior she has when playing with dogs. She has met kids and sometimes is sweet and playful and other times she can get rowdy and may nip. We thus don’t recommend Sallie for a family with small children or visiting small children. She may be ok with older school age kids, but she would need to be introduced slowly.
Potential adopters should be prepared to handle Sallie often to discourage touch sensitivity to help her experience interruptions and frustration. Sallie would greatly benefit from spending time with other puppies of the same age as much and as early as possible either through another well-balanced pup in the household or taking her to a puppy training class.
Sallie is not yet potty trained or leash trained but has started on crate training and is doing pretty good. She is a pretty quiet girl but you might hear her bark when playing or when she wants to get your attention. She is a smart, eager to please, toy and treat motivated, little squirt, so she should do great in puppy classes.
Sallie would love to find a forever family that has lots of time and patience to raise a puppy properly, and who has lots of extra time for loving and cuddles. Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!
