Lady wants to be your new best friend!

This sweet and gentle girl loves to be petted! We are thinking Lady is a Mountain Cur about 3 years old.

She is a pretty chill girl that gets along well with other dogs, but really doesn’t play too much with them. The same is true with cats. With us humans she is always friendly and affectionate. Lady loves relaxing and watching the world go by! We don’t know how she is with kids but suspect she would be ok as she is so even-tempered and gentle.

Since she was found as a stray we don’t know if she has lived in a household and a potential adopter will need to keep this in mind and go slow, work on socialization, and give her plenty of exercise and structure.

Lady appears to be house trained and is quiet and calm in a crate. She does need a little work on her leash skills as she tends to pull. A fenced yard would be ideal so she could run and play safely, but if that's not available she'll need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. An obedience course would be great for Lady; it will help teach her good manners and commands, further socialization with other dogs and people, and will help build that very important bond between a dog and her human.

Lady is a gentle soul who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!

Lady's story: We don’t know a lot about sweet Lady other than she was found as a stray. She is now living with a loving foster family and is doing great!

Medical Note: This dog has been treated for heartworm disease with melarsomine injections. Once treatment is completed and the dog tests negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and able to be adopted. Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment. A good resource for more information on heartworm disease is: https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
