Kutta is smart girl!
She is also affectionate, curious, and loves to play. We are thinking this beautiful young girl is a Labrador Retriever and Collie mix. Kutta (cut’-uh) is the Hindi (language of India) word for dog. Her foster mom says, "whoever adopts this sweet girl will have a best friend for life!" She's friendly when meeting new people but sometimes acts a bit shy and may back away, but give her a little time and she warms up and wants to be petted. She does not live with children and we think she may be okay with calm older kids who would be respectful of a new dog in the home.
Kutta has been making great progress in her foster home. She now fearlessly walks into all the rooms, is so brave letting her foster mom put on her harness for walks, and she just loves to play with her squeaky toys! She is playful with dogs and would make a great addition to a household as the only dog or as a buddy to existing family dogs. We don’t know how she is with cats but she is known to chase chickens. She is an active girl who loves the outdoors and would love to join you on a walk, run, or hike. She has mastered house training, crate training, and leash training and we think she will pick up even MORE skills as she is very smart. She will watchdog bark or bark to get your attention. A fenced yard would be ideal so she could run and play safely, but if that's not available she will need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. An obedience course is a must for her; it will help teach her good manners and commands, further socialization with other dogs and people, and will help build that very important bond between a dog and her human.
A potential adopter should be prepared to go slow with her, work on socialization and confidence building, give plenty of exercise, and provide training.
Kutta is a playful happy girl who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!
Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.
