Oreo Cake is one happy pup!

This sweet boy is friendly, affectionate, and loves to play. While Oreo is his official name he really likes to be called, and responds to, Yabedda (pronounced 'ya-bedda', as in 'you betta' not miss out on this special guy!!!). We aren't sure of the breed of this handsome boy but are thinking a Border Collie mix. We are sure Yabedda will make the perfect addition to your home!

He is friendly and interested in meeting other dogs on leash. He makes fast friends with almost any other playful and social dogs.  Like many dogs his age, he does not seem to understand how big he is when playing but has not been overbearing around smaller dogs, but could be too much for small/unstable children.  He has lived with cats before and while he is not aggressive towards them, he does enjoy playing and chasing them, so a cat-free home would likely be best for all.  With us humans he is outgoing and friendly.  He can get excited to meet new people and go new places and sometimes he jumps up a bit.  He has been around young children and really enjoys them. He can be a bit exuberant for small children but would love the company of kids who could handle his energy and size.

Yabedda is house trained and crate trained. He walks very nicely on the leash but does tend to pull initially and then settles back. He loves almost any and every adventure and, with a little more training, will make a great go-everywhere-with-you buddy.

A fenced yard would be great for this active boy, as would another playful canine housemate.  Daily exercise and mental stimulation are a necessary part of this sweet boy's routine, and if a fenced yard is not an option, he will need lots of walks/hikes/adventures, and regular visits to a dog park/playdates with other playful dogs. He is a smart guy and has completed basic group training classes but additional training is recommended to help him learn commands, socialize with other humans and dogs, as well as build that fur-ever bond with you!

If you're ready to make to make Yabedda a part of your family, fill out an application today!

Oreo's (aka Yabedda) backstory:  Oreo was surrendered from a home in Arkansas because he had been chasing a neighbor's cows.  He was placed in a RI home for a few months, but returned because the resident dog was not comfortable sharing his space with another dog.  Even with that experience, Oreo continues to enjoy play time as well as living in the same household with other, friendly dogs.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
