Hi, my name is Izzy but mom foster mama calls me Stumpy.. and Low Ridah.. and Lil Bit... the list goes on! I don't mind what you call me, though, because I'll come running to you for a good pet regardless! Everyone tells me I haven't had an "easy" life, whatever that means - since I am now living THE good life!

I hurt my leg and had to go to the vet. They took great care of me and heard I had surgery. I am now feeling a lot better, but walk with a limp. I still can run full speed ahead and walk with no problem. However, I would kindly like a raised dinner bowl since it helps my little legs out. The vet is optimistic about my future but wants to ensure my new family knows I will most likely require some extra TLC with my legs. I will need regular strength-building exercises (which can be achieved through regular daily activities), specific activity restrictions (I can't make a 5 mile uphill hike), and joint supplements recommended for life (a little extra never hurt, right?). Pain medications and/or additional surgery might be recommended in my future... but for now - I am thriving and really dig my foster mom when she gives me deep tissue massages at night on my leggys.

Ok, more about me … I am great with other dogs and would love nothing more than to have a dog sibling to help me learn how to be the best dog I can be! I'm very sweet with all people and children that come to visit me, but I don't like quick kids. Cats are ok and I don’t pay too much attention to them. I absolutely love people and getting pets and cuddling! While I love people, strangers sometimes spook me and I bark - but I'm not very scary as you can see. I am almost a master at house training and love my crate. I love to go on slow, frequent walks or sunbathing in the grass.

If your home is a bit more slow tempo, then I am your perfect slowpoke dog! I would love to have you take me to obedience training so I can learn some cool tricks and even better manners. It will be tons of fun and help teach me some new commands, further socialization with other dogs and people, and will bond us for life!

If you are looking for the perfect little dog that needs some extra TLC, please fill out an application for me - Izzy!

Medical Note: Izzy had patellar surgery on January 6, 2021 by a general vet practitioner in Jonesboro, AR. She is recovering nicely as of her recheck on February 1st. As of April 15, she still has a limp which may or may not resolve. We hope that she will return to normal function in the long term, but there is a wide range of possibilities for long-term complications. We expect her to be able to lead a relatively normal life, with regular strength-building exercise, specific activity restrictions, and joint supplements being recommended for her for life. Pain medications and/or additional surgery might be recommended in the future.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
