Ward George is available for adoption to Massachusetts residents, as well as those in the other New England states.
This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.
Ward is a happy go-lucky pup that can't wait to find his forever family!
This handsome boy is playful and has typical cute puppy behaviors and tendencies, such as wanting to cuddle, playing with chew toys, or run around, chase, and wrestle with other dogs. Although he seems mostly quiet you may hear him bark while playing or when left alone. We are thinking he is a Hound, American bulldog, and Great Dane mix, so he will likely grow-up to be a large dog.
He is a smart boy that is fully potty trained and sleeps quietly in his crate overnight. He gets along well with other dogs but we don’t know how he is with cats. He has been displaying some resource guarding with other dogs, but he’s working on it! His former foster family had school age kids who Ward and his brothers and sisters loved to play with but he currently doesn't live with kids.
This guy is going to make a fantastic adventure partner since he does so well on the leash and he absolutely loves car rides (road trip!). We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog.
Ward is the last remaining puppy from the “George” litter. All his brothers and sister have found loving forever homes, and he is being such a well behaved, patient boy while he waits for his. Can you make his dream come true? Fill out an application today and let sweet Ward know that you would like him to be part of your family.
Medical Note: A littermate of this dog tested positive and was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. This dog has also been preventatively treated and currently shows no symptoms of demodectic mange. Please note that demodex can have a hereditary component and/or flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a personal or family history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741 . Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
