Top O’ The Morning from Maggie Shamrock!
This beautiful girl is sweet, playful, even-tempered, and smart. She is a recent new mom of three healthy puppies. We are thinking Maggie is a Labrador Retriever mix around one year old.
Maggie is outgoing and friendly with everyone she meets including her foster family’s two school-age kids. She does sometimes jump out of exuberance, so families with young/timid children or people unsteady on their feet are probably not a great match for her. Maggie loves other dogs and is great friends with her two foster dog roommates. If you have other dogs
Maggie would do best with dogs who want to play as much as she does. She would also do ok as the only dog in a home but will need lots of daily stimulation and exercise. She is ok with cats, but will chase chickens and don’t recommend her for a family with chickens, turkeys, or other birds. Maggie is not a high energy or hyper dog, but will need regular daily exercise, stimulation and playtime to be her best doggie self; couch potatoes need not apply! She is very smart and eager to learn, but can also be demanding and little intense when she wants attention.
Maggie is a smart girl with a lovely demeanor but has not had much training and has much to learn. She will need potty training, crate training, and leash training in addition to basic commands but have a feeling with a strong patient adopter she will master these skills in no time. We recommend that you and Maggie plan on going to training classes together, starting within the first 45 days or so of bringing her home to help ensure that you both have access to the resources and support you may need to be as successful as possible. Group training classes are a great way to reinforce important skills, learn some new tricks, and get some quality socialization time with other furry friends. A fenced yard would be ideal so Maggie could run and play safely, but if that's not available she'll need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area.
Maggie is a playful and happy girl who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!
Maggie’s story: She was taken in as a stray puppy about one year ago. Her owners thought they had her secure during heat, but ended up with a surprise litter.
