Maggie is a chill girl!
She is also gentle, quiet, and even-tempered. We are thinking this laid-back lady is a Beagle mix around 3-years-old. Maggie recently had a litter of happy and healthy pups that have all found forever homes and now it’s Maggie’s turn.
She loves other dogs and we recommend her for a home with at least one other playful doggie friend. She can be shy when meeting new people and it can take her awhile to warm up. Maggie seems to be an independent / aloof girl that enjoys time with other dogs, both inside and outside. We don’t know how she is with kids and given her independent nature is likely not a great fit for a household with children or one looking for a lap dog or cuddle bug.
Maggie is crate trained, but does need some work on house training as she sometimes has accidents. A fenced yard would be great for a gal like Maggie as she can easily climb a three-foot fence. If a fenced yard is not an option, she will need lots of walks and visits to a dog park for a chance to play off-leash. She is a smart girl and basic group training classes is recommended to help her learn commands, socialize with other humans and dogs, as well as build that fur-ever bond with you!
Maggie is a gentle and happy young lady who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!
Maggie’s story: She was found roaming alone and pregnant and a loving family took her in where she had her pups.
Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence.
