Meet Hank!

Hank Aaron the famous baseball player is an all-star and we think this handsome fella is an all-star pup! His foster mom say’s he is brilliant, and thinks his former owners must have worked him as he is so well-behaved. We are thinking this extra sweet and loving boy is a Shepherd mix around 1-year-old.

Hank loves playing with other dogs but we don’t know how he is with cats. We think he would make a great addition to a household as the only dog or as a new buddy to other family dogs. He is friendly with all of us humans but we don’t know how he is with kids, but think he would be ok as he is so gentle and even-tempered. He is a pretty quiet guy but will let you know if he sees a stranger on your property.

He is house trained and walks pretty good on the leash but does pull some. Looking for a walking, running, or hiking partner? If so, Hank is the dog for you! He has not been crate trained and really doesn’t like them very much.

A fenced yard would be ideal so he can run and play safely, but if that's not available he will need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. We recommend that you and Hank sign up for some dog training classes together, ideally in the first 60 days or so of bringing him home. Group training classes are a great way to reinforce important skills, learn some new tricks, and get some quality socialization time with other furry friends

Hank is a warmhearted boy who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make his dream come true? Fill out an application today and let him know that you'd love to have him join your family!

Hank’s Story: He belonged to two young men. Owners lost interest and he was being left tied out. He was being fed by neighbors. While he was tied out, other dogs came into his yard and attacked him. He is now living with a loving foster family and doing great!

Medical Note: This dog tested positive for exposure to ehrlichia while in SOS foster care. This does not mean that this dog had ehrlichia. This dog is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and was preventatively treated with a 28-day course of doxycycline. Please see here for more information on ehrlichia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehrlichiosis_(canine). Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
