Sam is a busy boy!

He is also playful, affectionate, and smart! We are thinking handsome Sam is a Dachshund mix about six-years-old.

Sam loves meeting people but really doesn’t like to be picked up or restrained. We have observed this at the vet’s office but may also be the same with groomers and possibly a new family. At his foster home he will jump up on this foster mom and dad’s lap, but it seems he likes this on his terms. We think with a patient and confident adopter he should settle into family life nicely. He has been exposed to children (former owner’s granddaughter) and hear he was ok, but don’t know if he has lived with kids. We thus don’t recommend him for a household with children and think he would do best with a relatively quiet / low foot traffic home.

Sam is confident and quickly settles into a household but does take some time to warm up to new dogs and seems ok with cats. He is housetrained, crate trained, and walks good on the leash and would love to join you for a leisurely stroll, but not a long hike. He is also a quiet boy who rarely barks.
