Wilbur is one cool dude!

He is also sweet, smart, and even-tempered. Wilbur and his brother Tiggy can’t wait to find forever homes! We are thinking these handsome pups are an American Bulldog and Hound mix. They both have a sable coat and Tiggy is a bit darker than Wilbur.

They’re typical puppies with typical puppy behavior - playing, chewing, playing, jumping, playing...well, you get the picture! They haven’t started on “big dog” skills like house training, crate training, and leash training but think they will pick these skills up quickly as they seem very smart.

Wilbur and Tiggy are friendly with us humans, and other dogs, but we don’t think they have had much socialization and think they would do best in a relatively quiet / low foot traffic household with no young children.  The pups have been introduced to children and they seem ok. They may be over-anxious and excited around all humans, big and small, and might accidentally bump or jump until they learn all their manners, but there has never been any aggression of any kind with anyone. Their foster mom says they are energetic, playful, happy-go lucky pups that love to run and wrestle and play with each other and other dogs.

They each will need an adopter who has the time, energy, and patience to commit to their training, and who has plenty of time for exercise and play - all those things that make raising a puppy a lot of work, but with the huge reward of an awesome canine companion. Attending puppy obedience training is a must and will help solidify your pup’s social skills, boost his self-confidence, all while learning basic commands and having fun!

Wilbur would love to find a forever family that has lots of time and patience to raise a puppy properly, and who has lots of extra time for loving and cuddles. If you are looking for a puppy, Wilbur, or his brother Tiggy may be perfect for you! Fill out an application today and let him know that you'd love to have him join your family!

Wilbur & Tiggy’s story: Their owner passed away and had no family to take these playful pups.

Medical Note: A littermate of this dog tested positive and was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. This dog has also been preventatively treated and currently shows no symptoms of demodectic mange. Please note that demodex can have a hereditary component and/or flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a personal or family history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
