Say Hello to the Hazel Nutt!
As the days get shorter and the weather cooler wouldn’t it be great to cuddle up with a puppy? Hazel Nutt is a playful, sweet, and gentle pup looking for a forever home. We are thinking pretty Hazel is a Hound mix.
Hazel loves meeting new people but may act a little shy at first, but give her just a little time and she will be your new best friend! She has met kids over 6-years-old and is friendly and may jump out of excitement and potential adopters with young children should keep this in mind. Hazel is still learning how to interact with other dogs. She would likely do ok as an addition to other family dog/s but she will need to be introduced slowly, at her pace. As Hazel is somewhat timid, we think she would do best in a relatively calm / low foot traffic home.
Hazel is just getting started on potty, crate, and leash training and think she will pick up these skills quickly as she seems very smart. She loves toys and is happy to chill with a ball when not playing with you! So far, she is pretty quiet but you might hear her bark when playing.
She will need an adopter who has the time, energy, and patience to commit to her training, and who has plenty of time for exercise and play - all those things that make raising a puppy a lot of work, but with the huge reward of an awesome canine companion. Attending puppy obedience training is a must and will help solidify your pup’s social skills, boost his or her self-confidence, all while learning basic commands and having fun!
Hazel would love to find a forever family that has lots of time and patience to raise a puppy properly, and who has lots of extra time for loving and cuddles. If you are looking for a puppy, Hazel (or one of her littermates) may be perfect for you! Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!
Nutt Pups’ story: Mom was a pregnant stray who had her litter under a shed. Their caregivers and neighbors with children have been sharing care of the puppies.
