Did you feel love at first sight for Laney Highway?

This sweet girl is going to make a great addition to someone's home. We are thinking she is a Shepherd, Hound, and Bulldog mix. She is from a large stray litter and her brothers and sisters, as well as her mom, have all found their forever homes and now it's Laney's turn for happiness.

She is a  beautiful girl with a sleek coat and a great size. She is very friendly towards, and comfortable with, people including young children and is confident in her home. She may show a little hesitancy in new situations, especially when on leash, but typically warms up quickly once she gets the lay of the land and some treats! Laney seeks affection but is not overbearing. Laney is currently living as an only dog but has had play dates with other confident and friendly dogs and done well; Laney is less comfortable around fearful or reactive dogs. Further work on her dog social skills is recommended and she will likely not be a dog park or doggie daycare dog. Her foster family says she is really nimble, so much so can leap on top of her crate with a delicate gymnast's landing!

Laney is house trained, and crate trained, and has worked hard on her leash skills and has made much progress (she was initial very shy and uncomfortable outside on a leash). She is an intelligent girl and has recently learned  sit, down, touch, paw and stay!

Laney is very affectionate and playful; her favorite ways to play include wrestling, chase, bitey-mouth, and with toys. She is mostly quiet, but you may hear her bark while playing or in alert mode. She seems to have a moderate activity level and is happy to chill at times. She is friendly when meeting new people and is calm in the car, so she will be a great adventure buddy in the making!

If you felt love at first sight for Laney Highway, don't wait to apply for her today!

Medical Note:  A littermate of this dog tested positive and was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. This dog has also been preventatively treated and currently shows no symptoms of demodectic mange. Please note that demodex can have a hereditary component and/or flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a personal or family history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
